THE Crib

On July 13, 2010 we took down THE crib. I say THE crib because this crib has been up and running since August 2006. First Hudson called it home and then Major and THE crib didn't get a break - I didn't get a break either :) Now THE crib is a bed. We converted it into the full size bed and moved Major into Hudson's room.

Here the little monkeys are, sharing a room, and loving life. It has been so great and I wasn't fully sold on the idea of sharing a room. When we were at Pine Cove, a few moms recommended it. Some moms said that their kiddos slept better while they shared a room... SOLD!!! My boys are rocks stars, all day, and all night :) Which makes this mom the opposite of a rock star, whatever that is? I really would have tried anything to get them, in a bed, all night, without coming into my room. This set-up has been so helpful to all of us. They love it! Yea! For now, we are enjoying full nights of sleep. Love that!
Before this set up, Major was climbing out of his crib. I believe he started consistently climbing out in April, around his 2nd birthday. It wasn't like he did it every now and then, it was every night and a couple of times during the night. I tried the crazy gadgets like the "crib tent." That didn't work at all because of the shape of THE crib. I put a gate on his door which was good safety wise but once he got to the gate he would just cry and scream until I put him back in bed and hope that he would stay there. I did discipline some at night but it almost seemed like it just became a bad habit, the climbing out of bed... like he was almost asleep and still doing it. When we took the crib apart, we intended to have Major sleep in the full bed that was THE crib. We realized that some of the hardware was missing (not a surprise since we've moved twice since we got THE crib). So we took the plunge and had the boys sleep in Hudson's room. This involved taking down Hudson's bunk bed. It looks easy, but of course, was not easy at all. By the end of a very long day of taking down cribs and bunk beds, we had two happy brothers sharing a room and loving life.

This post makes me laugh in so many ways! SO glad THE crib is gone forever, or at least for now. I am sure they are sleeping better as best friends having a constant sleep over. And now you have an extra guest room!
