Husdon's 1st Birthday

Three Years Ago...

Daddy and his Bubba Bear

Here I am with Wendi the night we checked in. I checked into the hospital on August 26th, 2006, after my water broke. I was 30 weeks pregnant.

This is one of just a few pics from my 5 days stay in the hospital before the boys birthday. I was on magnesium sulphate due to pregnancy induced hypertension. It makes you pretty loopy, so my memories are fuzzy... but I remember my sweet friends visiting and holding my hand through those 5 days! Along with phone calls from sisters and mom and everyone. I'm sure I sounded like a crazy person on the phone. I remember Julianne saying something about me sounding pretty out of it, and that I should probably take a nap.

Julianne and Jenny with Hudson.
This is level 3 NICU, the day he was born.
Hudson was only on the respirator for half of that day.

Tomorrow Hudson will be THREE!

Having twin boys was beyond my wildest dreams. We were in heaven thinking of all the fun things that go along with twins and boys. As we learned that John Caleb was sick, we began a different journey. One that we never saw coming. I can only say that I'm still on the journey that began 3 years ago. I reflect on our blessings and I count our sweet baby, John Caleb as a priceless addition to the Livesay family. The steps that followed the initial diagnosis of John Caleb were painful. Medically it was confusing and devastating. Emotionally, it was just too much, and that's all that comes to mind, too much. I can say that I am thankful to Jesus for allowing us to hold him, kiss him and take care of him for the sort time He decided. I am joyful that he is whole and complete with his Heavenly Father. I miss him and I want to continue this journey that isn't over. Three years goes by fast. My second son, John Caleb, makes me a better mom. He squirmed around in my belly like a crazy man for 31 weeks. I held him for an hour and a half before he entered the eternal peace of being with his Father. I search my heart and soul for the reason. I can't help it. I probably won't stop that because when I search for the reason, I get closer to my potential, in following Christ, and how he is weaved through every fabric of this. He is in every tear and every whisper. I'm quietly listening and my heart is open.

So Clueless, In a Good Way

Our trip to Hawaii 2006
and

then...

February 22, 2006
Set this up on the island for Stephen when he got home from work. I was surprised to get a positive test (aren't we all) so I improvised and used the candy I bought for my 7th graders to spell out the news.
First doctors visit after positive pregnancy test
Me and my Big Daddy. He's so proud!
Soon after we found out we were having twins.
About 5 months pregnant with Hudson and John Caleb in Destin.

This was so fun. Shannon's shower (two weeks before mine) was all about the theme, which was airplane everything. I'm the air traffic controller due to my baby bump.
Just documenting how poor Murphy's life has changed.
This is one of the only pictures I have of my bump that I'm willing to post. The others are belly exposed and I'm not sure about that. I'm pretty sure I got about twice this big.
I'm starting to get sentimental with Hudson's 3rd birthday around the corner. It's always interesting to think back about what I was doing 3 years ago. These are just a few things that I have pictures of that go through the time up until we went to the hospital. I was really bad about pictures. Looking through the pictures put some things in perspective. I can hardly believe this was over 3 years ago! I'm thankful in some ways and sad too. I miss the clueless part of parenting one infant. I love the sweet things Hudson says to me know. It's so hard but so worth it. So... more to come on what we were up to 3 years ago.

Baseball in the Buff

The facial expressions...

Summer Time Snacks

Watermelon is a staple.

Cupcakes are just as much for mom as the boys.

Too Cute

Sleeping with his blank and ease (blanket and paci)

I sat him down, and thought, I'll pick up real quick, and then put him down for his nap. I was running around and looked over to see this precious site. Just gotta squeeze him. Sweet boy!

Boys will be boys

OUCH!

I guess I just feel like maybe I should start documenting the things that are destroyed through the toddler years, and beyond. One day, when my house is completely destroyed, I can look back at all the cute things I once had.

This had been kept safely in the laundry room until I decided where to hang it. THE DAY I brought it out to hang, this happened.

No one was harmed in this incident, thank goodness.

Major actually accomplished this all on his own.

Hudson gets credit for a previous incident involving a hanging shelf that held many precious baby things in his nursery.

Mr. Potato Head

Hudson takes the mouth pieces from Mr. Potato Head and then stares at himself in the mirror. It's hilarious!

PINE COVE - part 2

Photos from camp photographer...

Sunday arrival at camp

Pretty sure this splash pad adventure was dad taking the boys out while I took a nap!

Getting ready for team "survivor" game
(Where's Major you ask? Oh, he's with a sweet counselor so we could participate, love that!)
My event
Trying to get the paddle and life jacket while blind folded.
Next, hand off the items to canoe team...

This was one of the funnies things that happened the entire week!

I laughed so hard it hurt. Stephen and his partner are in the green canoe. They were in the lead but fell out 4 times, if I remember right. The first time was funny, the 4th time, well I couldn't breathe. That combined with how competitive all these guys are, was priceless. To be fair, all the canoes ended up tipping over at some point. That's Kyle Fox in the red canoe, FYI.
Egg race part of the challenge, Hudson's event (no pic of him)
glad I didn't have to do this one
This is our team, finishing strong, last place
Summer Snow Balls=flour in pantyhose, frozen
They are attacking Reed.
I think they do something to him every year.
(all adults, they planned it, and then attacked him, in good fun)

All the families took these cute little photos complete with matching clothes, the Sunday we arrived.

We missed that detail and got paged out of lunch to take our pic, Friday.

This is the result...
We will try harder next year
